Steve Jobs Reveals the Apple iPad
Steve jobs was recently quoted as declaring to an enthusiastic Apple staff audience, “we are a $500 billion company”. Well, that number isn’t going to go down any time soon is it? The Apple iPad is arguably the gadget that will see Apple become a $1 trillion company. This was device was just waiting for technology to catch up before the time was right to launch it.
What is it? Well, it’s the missing link.
To be honest, it looks a bit like an overgrown iPhone. It’s about half and inch thick and features a 9.7 inch touch screen. It comes in similar flavours to the first iterations of the iTouch, those being, 16, 32 and 64Gb. We’re not going to have to wait long for it either. It will be hitting the streets at the end of March this year. It will be 801.11n wi-fi capable and if you can wait until the end of April you can have one with 3G wi-fi. Starting prices in the USA will be around $500.
Steve Jobs revealed that it will do a number of tasks so much better than current gadgets. Well, it to do really didn’t it? Web browsing will be much better, as will email interaction. However, it will be also capable of kicking the ass of rivals in the areas of games, music, video, photos and ebooks.
The iPad as I said above can be described as the missing link. It fits snugly between the smart phone and the computer providing the capability of both at a price between both and the portability between both.
Boris can see a small problem though. I think a lot of Apple customers who bought the iPhone did so more for the technology than for the ability to make calls and send emails. Now that a device is available which makes that technology much more usable, I believe a lot of people will be ditching the iPhone in favour of the iPad rather than continuing to own both, especially as Boris predicts that if you are going to connect both devices to the Internet, you will need separate carrier agreements rather than sharing one between both devices.
So, the iPad is going to be the next must have gadget, but Boris thinks Apple may want to brace themselves for quite a few people ditching their iPhones.
Boris is now going to go and create a simple phone with only the capability of speech and text to fill the gap.
