Steve Jobs Reveals the Apple iPad

Steve jobs was recently quoted as declaring to an enthusiastic Apple staff audience, “we are a $500 billion company”. Well, that number isn’t going to go down any time soon is it? The Apple iPad is arguably the gadget that will see Apple become a $1 trillion company. This was device was just waiting for technology to catch up before the time was right to launch it.

What is it? Well, it’s the missing link.

To be honest, it looks a bit like an overgrown iPhone. It’s about half and inch thick and features a 9.7 inch touch screen. It comes in similar flavours to the first iterations of the iTouch, those being, 16, 32 and 64Gb. We’re not going to have to wait long for it either. It will be hitting the streets at the end of March this year. It will be 801.11n wi-fi capable and if you can wait until the end of April you can have one with 3G wi-fi. Starting prices in the USA will be around $500.

Steve Jobs revealed that it will do a number of tasks so much better than current gadgets. Well, it to do really didn’t it? Web browsing will be much better, as will email interaction. However, it will be also capable of kicking the ass of rivals in the areas of games, music, video, photos and ebooks.

The iPad as I said above can be described as the missing link. It fits snugly between the smart phone and the computer providing the capability of both at a price between both and the portability between both.

Boris can see a small problem though. I think a lot of Apple customers who bought the iPhone did so more for the technology than for the ability to make calls and send emails. Now that a device is available which makes that technology much more usable, I believe a lot of people will be ditching the iPhone in favour of the iPad rather than continuing to own both, especially as Boris predicts that if you are going to connect both devices to the Internet, you will need separate carrier agreements rather than sharing one between both devices.

So, the iPad is going to be the next must have gadget, but Boris thinks Apple may want to brace themselves for quite a few people ditching their iPhones.

Boris is now going to go and create a simple phone with only the capability of speech and text to fill the gap.

Kerching $$$.

Johnny Depp is not Dead!

And while we’re at it, will you all please leave Johnny Depp alone. He’s not dead, he’s sat here with me sipping a coffee laughing at all the incredible rumours on the Internet and in total disbelief that a story from 2004 could be dragged up to start a Twitter storm. Calm down everyone.

Is there life out there?

I hear scientists are gathering for a convention in London to discuss the possibility of life on other planets. To be honest I don’t know how much more proof they need. I’m here aren’t I? But as they are completely ignoring Boris they have said that now is the best opportunity for discovering life on other planets than any time that has gone before.

Advances in technology mean that mankind is not only able to detect Earth sized planets orbiting other stars but it is also possible to determine if they have continents and oceans. It seems to be only a matter of time and money before you will have a telescope competent enough to see far enough into the cosmos to see for yourself.

And do you know what you will see? You will see Boris, stood on a beach sipping a cocktail, waving back at you.

Boris Asks – Will the Puffin Fly?

Ok, so there is this guy that works for NASA who has an obsession with Personal Air Vehicles. In other words air transport for the common man. I have been watching this over the last number of years and you lot haven’t really done much in this area.

Who was that guy with the flying saucer car thing. Totally barking up the wrong tree there. We tried that design back in the 1940’s (earth time) and it crashed and burned. This Mark Moore guy though could be on to something. He’s hoping to get a flying model sorted out in the next few months but in order for this to ‘take off’ we need better battery technology because he reckons that currently this is only good for about 6 minutes of hover. That’s not a lot is it? Come on you battery guys, give this guy a hand will you?

Here’s a neat mock up of what the guy wants to build.
